About Catholic Mission

Catholic Mission is the Pope’s international Mission agency in Australia.

Our network of religious and lay missionaries operates in Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, the Americas. Catholic Mission’s work supports children, communities, and future Church leaders across education, healthcare, and spiritual care.

Our Vision & Mission:

That all may have life in Christ.

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10)

As the Pope’s international Mission agency we respond to the call to love God and to love our neighbour by forming individuals and communities as missionary disciples of Jesus who share their faith in action and through prayer.

We share in God’s mission to reach out and give life by sharing our personal and financial resources to:

  • Proclaim the Gospel
  • Serve people in need
  • Act for peace, justice and creation

in partnership with local churches so that all may have life in Christ.

Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you should love one another. (John 13:34)

The Network of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Catholic Mission is a part of the Pontifical Mission Societies, an international network based on four societies, namely the Propagation of the Faith, the Holy Childhood, St Peter the Apostle and the Pontifical Missionary Union. For centuries, we have been supporting the work of missionaries around the world to help communities in need through mission development projects. In Australia and internationally, Catholic Mission has been engaged in advocacy work to defend and empower individuals in need.

Through the Pontifical Mission Societies, there are over 131,000 Mission stations and works across the world. These Mission stations and works are run by both religious and lay women and men. Their aim is to help communities by addressing their needs at a grassroots level.

Catholic Mission is committed to empowering missionary cooperation and collaboration of all people of goodwill, to reach out and give life by sharing their gifts and talents, personal and financial resources to proclaim the Gospel, serve people in need, act for peace, justice and creation.
